For those of you who are newer followers of mine on Instagram and who perhaps haven’t scrolled that far down on my feed, the simplicity of this look + the short blonde hair might be a surprise to you, given my long, dark braids and textured, layered, highly accessorized style as of late. Sure, what I wear to the beach will be very different from what I wear while roaming around a town or city, but more importantly, my personal style is ever-evolving. As I scroll back through my Instagram I, myself, can see the changes, and my constant experimentation to create myself while remaining true to the style cues that I’ve always gravitated toward. It’s an amazing thing, being able to watch yourself evolve in that way, and it’s something I value. More on this later.
I wore this amazingly comfortable Romwe Grey Backless Fringe Playsuit one day in Maui, and it was the perfect comfortable, minimal piece to slip into that I knew I’d feel great in without giving my outfit too much thought. One should never have to think too much about an outfit on a lazy day … it takes away from the “lazy” part. Lol. In something like this romper and a great pair of sneakers, you can look like you tried without actually trying at all. I slipped the playsuit over a black bralette, threw my Vans Leather Sk8 Hi’s on, accessorized with a necklace from Rose Gypsy and Urban Decay’s Matte Revolution lipstick in “Menace” for a pop of color, and was the happiest, most comfy young lady on the island. The bracelets you see me wearing are the Malas from Humanity Unified which you may know by now. They’re made in India, they represent strength, awareness, calmness, and healing, and all proceeds from our Mala sales go towards our cause in Rwanda.
