But First.

I'm always in search of a great coffee shop in whatever areas I frequent. Aren't we all? I have my favorites in DTLA: Verve and The Classic. I have my favorite in Venice: Menottis. I have my favorites in other areas of SF: The Mill, Four Barrel, and Sightglass. And I'm so happy to say I now have my new go-to in the Sunset district of SF: Andytown Coffee Roasters. In classic coffee shop aesthetic with its own little twists, it's a blend of wood textures, white walls and cabinets, white brick, wired pendant lamps with exp[...]

Let Death Be What Takes Us, Not Lack of Imagination.

In this insanely beautiful and inspiring talk by BJ Miller, Executive Director at Zen Hospice, we are invited to change the way we think about dying. With Zen Hospice's MO being "Our mission is to help change the experience of dying", and BJ Miller himself being a victim of a life-threatening electrical accident that took 3 of his limbs and almost his life, you can imagine the profoundly heightened sense of awareness as well as the rare, and acutely developed human perspective he has on life and on living, that he so won[...]

Spontaneous SF Evenings.

Yesterday evening was spent in wonderful company. My friends took me out for a delicious poke + wings dinner at Pa'ina (a belated bday get-together), because I was invited to a screening of The Intern at the Kabuki Theater right next door. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and very satisfying. Apparently Pa'ina has Wing Wednesdays, so wings are 25 cents a pop. How ridiculous is that?? If you ever go to this spot, make sure you get the Garlic Cilantro wings; they were definitely my favorite, though all were d[...]

Empty Spaces.

Tomorrow is the end of an era. Tomorrow I hand over the keys to my studio loft in DTLA and make the final trek back up to the Bay Area. I've been in LA for almost 4 years now and needless to say, it has been an unforgettable journey. From the hardships, the feeling of aloneness, and the difficulties making "real friends", to the independence, the self-empowerment, creative maturation, and the eventual cultivation of lifelong friendships (finally) ... all this and more has happened in my time here. I cannot quite describe[...]

A Giant Leap of Faith.

Today is the first day of the rest of my life. I'm currently sitting at Verve Coffee Roasters in DTLA, and I'm writing this blog entry with an entirely new perspective and feeling. Today marks the start of a new, very exciting, and refreshing chapter in my life, where I've taken a chance and left full time work to focus on my blog. It's immensely thrilling/liberating to say the least, and equal parts nerve-wracking/humbling. I've also made the decision to move back to the Bay Area from LA to be closer to love[...]

When In SF.

Posted In: Adventures | Around Town
It's so funny to me that I was so adamant about moving away from San Francisco when I did, always saying that I could no longer stand it, because it was getting too small for me - and yet, almost every single blog entry I've posted since I launched my website, has taken place in SF. Not only that, but the photos I post allude to the grandeur of the city...quite the opposite of the way I felt about it when I left. read more[...]
